Keep Calm, and welcome to college

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had a nice weekend!  Today I decided to do a post about starting college.  Soon I'll be going into my Sophomore year of college, but I'm seeing a lot of my Facebook friends moving in.  I wanted to give you some tips on how to handle Freshman year.

Starting college alone is a nerve-wracking experience.  Big school, more people and harder classes...and on top of that, moving into a dorm, with a stranger!

Here are some Poochie Pointers for starting college

1) Stay open minded! College is a whole new world, and you can't look at things with a narrow mind.  There are going to be different classes to experience, clubs to join and people to meet.  I went to a small all girl, Catholic, private school, so college was a huge change for me.  But I made sure to keep my eyes and ears wide open and be open to new things.  Sign up for one club you usually wouldn't...who knows, maybe it'll become something you love!

2) Stay active!  I'm sure you've heard this from everyone, but it's really the truth.  Now when I say stay active, I don't just mean go to the gym.  Don't sit in your room on your laptop, go outside and play frisbee (that seems to be a big thing in college)  Have a lot of homework?  Take it to a quiet area outside on your campus.  Join an activity or club that helps you keep active, like the Dance Ensemble.  But also, do go to the gym!  It really makes a difference.  Working out releases endorphins, and endorphins make you happy! (Elle Woods said so)

3) Take a risk (a safe one of course)  I like to take risks, but small ones, so I guess you could say, try new things.  Sometimes in our dining hall, they have international food nights, so go over and try something different!  Another example, I was never a huge outdoors girl but my school is surrounded by beautiful mountains, so I'm dying to take a hike!

4) Going along with staying active, take care of your body! Unfortunately, the Freshman 15 can really exist but it doesn't have to!!  Make each meal a healthy one.  Make sure your breakfast is full of fiber to keep you full and ready for a full day.  Something I like to do is alternate with a big lunch or dinner.  If I see something delicious for lunch like tacos or burritos, I'll make sure to have a grilled chicken salad for dinner.  That's another really important thing I must mention, treat yourself.  You're young, you're in college and you're allowed to have a few slices of pizza after a night out or a cone of ice cream, but all in moderation.

I hope this really helps some of you out!

Concrete Jungle

Hi loves,

This past weekend, my family and I took a mini vacation to the Big Apple!  We stayed at the Marriott in Times Square and went on a few adventures.  I want to tell you all about the activities we did, along with my outfit details!

We started off the Saturday by checking in to our hotel and getting lunch at a restaurant in the hotel.  My shirt is a white crop top with lace over the front from Forever 21.  My amazing floral, flowy pants are from American Eagle.  These are so comfortable but I had to get them hemmed...a lot.  The first time I wore them, I took quite the fall.

After lunch and walking around, we saw Mama Mia.  Such a great show!

Then, time for dinner!  We had dinner at Guy Fieri's restaurant (picture below) then we walked around Bryant Park.  My black maxi dress is from Forever 21.  I wore a yellow and silver necklace, also from F21.  I wanded my hair and put on a touch of red lipstick.  I really liked this look because it was so easy to put together but still looked so nice.

After dinner, we headed to Juniors for some famous cheesecake and this giant cup of coffee!
Sunday morning rolled around, and sadly it was time to pack and head home.  But before that, we stopped at Hudson Eatery for some brunch.  Let me tell you, that was one delicious brunch!  This outfit includes my favorite pair of black jeggings from American Eagle and this adorable floral crop top from Mandees.  My hair was still wanded from the night before but I just swept it over to a side part.

This was a simple post, but I really wanted to share!

Kiko Milano Cosmetics

Hello again,

I've been doing so much back to school shopping and have a big haul coming soon. I was going to include this makeup in the haul post but I decided to give it's own. I watch Carli Bybel on YouTube and she's mentioned the brand Kiko Milano. In the beginning of the summer, I saw they were opening a store in my mall!  I finally went in the other day and one word...obsessed!!  The employee was so surprised I had heard the brand before but I didn't know much about them. One more word...cheap!! I picked up 5 items all for $34! Don't get me wrong, I love Sephora but I would've spent well over $34.  So now I'm going to show you the items I picked up!

First are these 3 lip liners, for $4 each. I got one in red, one in pink and one in brown. These are the bost basic liners in a matte finish. I can't wait to try them on!

Next I have this illuminating mask for only $4!!! They have a whole skin care line and had to try this on...who doesn't love a good face mask?  I'll defintley be doing a post on this when I use it.

Lastly is this new blush. I wanted a color a bit warmer for the fall, so I got this dusty rose color called Soft Touch, only $12.

I'm so excited this is now in my mall and will defintley be a new favorite! You should check it out!

Intermezzo

Hello all,

Although last week was my last week interning, this week on Monday and Tuesday I volunteered at the Intermezzo trunk show.  This was so much fun and amazing experience.  Hundreds of different brands set up booths throughout the Jacob Javits Center in NYC and customers would check out the lines.  I have 2 outfits to show for the 2 days.  I wasn't sure what to wear for the first day so  I wasn't crazy about my outfit, but of course I made it work!

Day 1 I wore this high low dress.  I think this dress is from F21 a few years back.  I really love the color orange.  It's so flowy and can be dressed up or down so it's a really great item.

Day 2 I wore light blue jeans from AE, a white tshirt from Nordstrom, grey sweater from Marshalls, necklace from F21 and sandals also from Marshalls.  I threw this outfit together really last minute and I ended up loving it.  All the colors just completed eachother well.  I could definitely see this is a fall outfit.

Up next, a very very long shopping haul!! Hope you enjoyed.

week 8, the finale

Hello Loves,

I'm so sorry I let myself fall so behind on posts, things have been so crazy!  So now I'm here to update you on everything, so sit down, maybe get a snack and keep on reading!

This was my last week at my internship and I was so sad, but I wore my cutest outfits to make it a bit more bearable.
So if you didn't notice, I got a hair cut!  3 inches off and I love it, such a great cut for the summer!  For this Monday morning,  I went comfy chic.  These black and white "fancy pants" ,as I call, them are from F21. They're so comfy and then this black tank is also from F21, it has a little pocket in the front and a sheer back.

This is one of my favorite summer outfits.  This denim, floral, crop top is from F21.  I wasn't sure how to wear it at first but then I remembered I had this coral maxi skirt also from F21!  The outfit also brought out my tan!  I loved this look.

For my last day, I wanted to look extra cute.  This tank actually has fringe at the bottom but I tucked it in this teal skater skirt from Charolette Russe.  On my feet are my nude flats from Payless.

Hope you liked these outfits!   I sure loved them, you can even cross over the first and third for fall looks...future post?  More posts to come!
